Network and datacenter architecture, from design to acceptance

Vinetu Technologies designs, deploys and maintains campus and datacenter networks, virtualization platforms and datacenter infrastructure. Engagements cover architecture, specification, migration, acceptance testing and ongoing maintenance, with particular expertise in Extreme Networks Fabric Connect (VOSS).

What does a network and datacenter engagement include?

An installer configures the equipment that was chosen. An architect first establishes what the organization needs, how traffic and failures will behave, and how the result will be operated, and only then selects equipment. Vinetu works as the architect and, where the customer wants, also as the implementer and the operator.

Typical projects are new or refreshed campus networks, datacenter and server-room builds, virtualization platform replacements, consolidation of sites, and migrations that must happen without taking the business offline.

Vinetu has long experience with Extreme Networks Fabric Connect (VOSS), a fabric technology that simplifies segmentation and resilience across campus and datacenter, and designs with HPE compute and Proxmox virtualization where they fit the requirements.

Who it is for

  • Organizations planning a new building, campus or datacenter.
  • IT managers replacing a network or virtualization platform that has reached end of life.
  • Multi-site companies that need consistent segmentation and resilience across locations.
  • Venues and public organizations with large, high-density networks.

Problems it solves

  • Networks that grew over years without a design, with undocumented VLANs and single points of failure.
  • Virtualization platforms facing licence changes or hardware end of support.
  • Migrations planned only as equipment swaps, without dependency mapping or rollback.
  • Projects that finish without acceptance tests, current diagrams or an operational owner.

Scope and deliverables

  • Discovery and documentation of the current network, compute, storage and dependencies.
  • High-level and detailed design: topology, segmentation, routing, resilience, addressing and management.
  • Specification and bill of materials, and procurement through Vinetu if required.
  • Datacenter and server-room implementation, including racks, cabling plans, power and cooling coordination.
  • Virtualization platform design and deployment, including migration of existing workloads.
  • Migration planning with cut-over windows and rollback.
  • Acceptance testing, including failover tests, and as-built documentation.
  • Ongoing maintenance and support under a managed service agreement.

How we deliver it

  1. Assess

Document the current state, measure traffic and capacity, and map business workflows to the systems they depend on.

  2. Design

Produce the high-level and detailed design, with resilience scenarios, capacity headroom and an operating model.

  3. Implement

Build and migrate in planned stages, each with a defined window, owner and rollback path.

  4. Validate

Run acceptance tests against the design, including controlled failover, and hand over current diagrams and configurations.

  5. Operate

Maintain the network and platform, apply updates, and adapt the design as the organization grows.

Technologies and partners

  • Extreme Networks — campus and datacenter switching, Fabric Connect (VOSS)
  • HPE — servers, storage and compute infrastructure
  • Proxmox — virtualization platform
  • Fortinet — firewalls and secure connectivity between sites

Why Vinetu

  • Architecture-led: design, resilience and operability are defined before equipment is chosen.
  • Specialist experience with Extreme Networks Fabric Connect (VOSS) in campus and datacenter networks.
  • Vinetu operates its own network (AS35435) and a two-site private cloud, so its designs are informed by running production infrastructure.
  • One team can take the project from design to procurement, implementation, acceptance and maintenance.

Frequently asked questions

When do we need a network architect rather than an installer?

When several systems depend on the change, when continuity during failures matters, when multiple sites or clouds must connect, or when nobody clearly owns the design. In those cases the risk lies in the design decisions, not in configuring the equipment.

Do you work with hardware we have already bought?

Yes. We can design around existing equipment, and we will tell you where it limits resilience or capacity. We can also specify and procure new equipment if needed.

How do you avoid downtime during a migration?

By mapping dependencies first, migrating in small stages with defined windows, testing each stage with the people who use the systems, and keeping a tested rollback for every step.

What do we receive at the end of the project?

A network or platform that passed agreed acceptance tests, current diagrams and configurations, and documentation that allows your team or Vinetu’s managed service to operate it.
